(Artist: Don Steward)
"On a l'impression que les peintres, comme d'ailleurs tous les artistes, continuent instinctivement à créer au milieu de la catastrophe, comme des fourmis dans la fourmilière à demi-détruite"
Ernst Jünger

I put light in my paintings that does not exist in my country #15

Sculpture by Aristide Maillol in Brussels (also in NYC, in MOMA's courtyard as shooted by Cassavetes in Shadows in 1961). As said once Selby Jr: "Boom" ("Sometimes I sit here, and the phone rings, and I cry. “I ... I can’t talk!” I’m just totally incapable of it. But I’ve come to believe, from my experience, that whenever I feel like I’m locked in hell, I am at the gates of heaven. And my perception of my experience can change in the wink of an eye. Just all of a sudden. Boom. "). Click on the grey drops to be boomed.

I put light in my paintings that does not exist in my country #8

Artist: Jan Sanders van Hemessen. His Vanity was painted around 1535-1540 (displayed in Musée des Beaux-Arts, Lille). The butterfly supposedly softens the bony truth of vanity; an antiquary shop of Les Sablons, Brussels, exhibits the same caress:

(butterfly + austin mini = who cares ?)

Please, Sin #11

(May a voice on the phone be an orgiastic music?)

Please sin, but watch your mind out (hereafter is another version of the Temptation of St Anthony by Felicien Rops (1878), in Bibliothèque Royale Albert 1er, Brussels, where smiling Flesh replaces the sacrified Christ ("place aux jeunes")):

"Ce tant folâtre Monsieur Rops
Qui n'est pas un grand prix de Rome
Mais dont le talent est grand comme
La pyramide de Chéops"
Beaudelaire, 1870.
