Artist: Jan Sanders van Hemessen. His Vanity was painted around 1535-1540 (displayed in Musée des Beaux-Arts, Lille). The butterfly supposedly softens the bony truth of vanity; an antiquary shop of Les Sablons, Brussels, exhibits the same caress:
